Math Homework:

Students are asked to practice math facts using the listed weblinks below. There are many off line games that can assist such as Bump games, using dice, cards and flashcards. Some of the key strategies we teach students to use for multiplication are repeated addition, skip counting, equal groups, arrays, and numberlines. Using actual objects such as lego, bingo chips, beads, or cereal are often helpful so students can build the equations in a tactile manner.

Practicing their math facts will build their numeracy skills and allow them to be more successful in the grade 5 mathematics units. Students are asked to work at their own pace and build math facts fluency in a fun and motivating manner. I usually remind them that they are building math stamina and are only competing to better their own skills.
