My class will take part in an exciting Florida

Scavenger Hunt! The goal is to collect as many items as possible. Then

proudly display them in a scrapbook or powerpoint presentation (your choice). Each item has a designated point value. A total of 85 pts are available. Some of these items are easy to

find. Others may require a little extra effort.Scrapbook creativity is

very important and can add up to 15 points alone. This will be a generous portion of your SS grade for 4th quarter!

2 pts each (16 items)

*Picture or colored drawing of the leaf from our state tree.

*Picture or drawing of our state bird.

*Article about Florida's present population

*Article about that lists the record high and low temperatures in Florida

*Logo from three sports teams any city in Florida

*An article about a natural disaster that took place in our state

*Colored drawing or picture of the Florida state flag

*Map of Florida

*Map of Davie/Ft. Lauderdale

*A picture of your school and you with a former teacher

*A picture of your house

*Two headings from the Sun-Sentinel, Miami Herald, or any other Florida Newspaper

*List of current state officials (Governor, Lt. Governor, and Secretary of State)

*List 5 Florida rivers and write a sentence about each

*Write the names and works of 5 Florida authors

*Write a paragraph/give information about your favorite Florida theme park

*Write a paragraph on how Florida got its name, who thought it up, and why we decided to use it.

5 pts each (10 items)

*Photo of you in front of the local fire station or fire truck

*Photo of you taking a selfie in front of a local City Hall

*Photo of you with your current 4th grade teacher

*Photo of you in front of any business in Davie (or your town). Please include business card.

*Write a paragraph about the importance of the Everglades in Florida

*Autograph from any local government official (ex: mayor)

*A brochure of a Florida State Park you visited with a picture of you having fun there. (ex: Everglades Park)

*Draw or download a picture of the state capital and write four historical fact about the building. You may include a picture of you in front of the capital if you don't mind driving eight hours to get there.

*Photo of you reading at your local library

*Photo of you pointing to a famous building/structure in Florida

Points available for creativity: 15

Total possible points: 100

Please work on this project throughout the year. This is NOT something that can be put together in a weekend
